Kids need adults who care.
Being part of the Fredericton Kiwanis family is about: having fun, making new friends, and being part of the larger community. It is giving of your time through fundraising and service projects which have an important impact on the children of Fredericton. Being a member of Kiwanis also makes you a member of a global community of care.
Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
Kiwanis members’ activities support:
• Health and nutrition,
• Education and literacy, and
• Youth leadership development.
Another key to Kiwanis is their Service Leadership Programs. These are leadership and character-building programs hosted in a school or community agency and sponsored by a Kiwanis club.
The Kiwanis Club of Fredericton is a proud sponsor of The Fredericton Kiwanis Youth Choir. It is an auditioned treble choir for boys and girls, between grades 4-12. We believe in fostering opportunities for youth to celebrate their own unique gifts. Interested in learning more or booking the choir for an event, please contact Ross Simonds, rossas@nb.sympatico.ca, or phone 506 474-2905.
Kiwanis Club of Fredericton partnered with Kingsclear Community School to provide financial and volunteer support for such things as playground maintenance, breakfast program, and BBQ fun days.
Kiwanis Club of Fredericton, in partnership with Peters Meat Market and spearheaded by member, Josh Paul, donates 100 Easter food baskets to families in need. These baskets are then delivered to several local schools by our members.
The Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation treats the most complex neurological conditions in adults and children. The original Kiwanis House, first established in 1995, was a monumental effort and fundraising achievement for the Kiwanis Club of Fredericton. It offered three accessible units that allowed families to be part of their family member's rehabilitation. In partnership with the Stan Cassidy Center and Kiwanis members from across New Brunswick, a new fully accessible facility was built next to the Stan Cassidy Centre in 2012. We continue to support the Kiwanis House today and into the future.
Fall and Winter is our busiest fundraising season. Starting with our Cheese Sale, we bring in a selection of gourmet cheese. It is a favourite with repeat customers year after year. You will find us at different community tables during the month of November.
Christmas trees and Kiwanis go hand in hand. It's a tradition Fredericton families have supported for over many years. Find us at the Fredericton Exhibition Grounds in late November. Get them early; we sell out fast!
In honour of Mother's day, we host an online auction where local businesses donate their goods or services in support of Kiwanis efforts. Thank you Fredericton!

The Kiwanis Club of Fredericton received its charter on December 5, 1944. Since that time the Kiwanis Club of Fredericton championed many causes. A few of the highlights which are still in place today include:
1963-1967 In conjunction with the Inclusion NB, formerly New Brunswick Association of Community Living, the club operated and organized the first class for intellectually disabled children.
The club was also actively involved in the Law Amendments Committee concerning the education of intellectually disabled persons. This action influenced the Province of New Brunswick to assume total responsibility for the education of all intellectually disabled persons in this province.
1968 Working in coordination with the Big Brothers Association of Canada, the Kiwanis Club of Fredericton sponsored the Big Brothers Program, the first in the Atlantic Provinces.
1976 The club donated considerable time and effort to establish Killarney Lake’s summer park, complete with playground equipment and picnic tables.
1995 Fundraising started for the original Kiwanis House, established on the grounds of the Stan Cassidy Rehab Centre, operated as a hostel where families can stay and be part of their family members' rehabilitation. In 2002 the final mortgage payment was made.
2012 The Kiwanis Club of Fredericton fundraised with the Stan Cassidy Foundation to raise funds for a New Kiwanis House.
